Using a pair of oil coolers

I'd like to be able to fit a 16 or 19 row oil cooler but simply haven't got room on my mk2 Polo.
I have however got some free space behind the lower front valance and was thinking of using a pair of 10 row oil coolers linked together end to end. This would give me a decent cooling area and the extra capacity similar to the usual 19 row one used on some of the high end turbo G40's on here.
So, oil into the cooler as normal - then out and directly into a second cooler and then out to return to the oil take off plate. Sorta like one long but slim oil cooler but with a join in the middle.
Are there any reasons this shouldn't be done?
Thanks,
Richard.

As long as it doesnt adverslely affect oil pressure then there is no reason you cant have mulitples. Having two side by side in series should be absolutley fine, i have seen this set up on several race cars. I went out and purchased myself a large 19 row oil cooler thinking it wouldnt be too much of a problem to fit, had a little play around with the mounting of it along with the rad and intercooler and i dont feel very clever. I have since considered mounting 2 smaller ones as you have mentioned (in series) behind the grill but i am still to make up the brakets for the front end so time will tell what road i go down...

Thanks for the reply Jez.
Yeah, somebody else mentioned oil pressure loss as a potential problem.
Anyone else got any opinions, particularly on the possible oil pressure issue?

The smaller capacity 10 row cooler could flow less oil than a larger one, which could lead to a drop in oil pressure if you run them in series. As running in series will use less hose and fittings then a parallel installation it's likely to be cheaper and neater. However if this does cause an oil pressure problem, you could probably solve it by buying a few more fittings and changing to a parallel set up which would flow twice that of a series install.
