HELP PLEASE :) GT to G40 confusion

Hi guys,

I have a G40 but due to lack of funds i have had to put a GT engine into her untill i can afford a g40 conversion, i seem to have done everything that i know of but she wont start, not even turn over, nothing, is there any modifications i have to make or add to to make this work as i thought it was simply plug and play  ???

so there's no sign of life at all?  The starter motor doesn't even spin?  Start with the basics, check that the battery is charged, check the thick wiring between the battery and the starter motor.  check that your engine earth straps are all in place and OK.

no mate, no sign of life at all, the lights and indicators and wipers work, there isnt the usual humm sound that comes when you turn the key that 1 click if you know what i mean, it completely dead, i have checked what you suggested and had no luck, any chance you know what to do from here??

That humm is your fuel pump primeing that could be a relay or fuse or dodgy connexion hope this helps, is it turning over and failing to fire or is it not doing any thing at all?

have you put the connector on the starter in the right place..... little wire where theres two places for it to fit and itl only work on one of them

This is a wiring issue then, given that, have a search for my username.... If there had to be a wiring issue sods law i had it when i fitted my G, It could shed some likght on your issue.

you're going to have to start checking the wiring.  The fact the fuel pump doesn't prime could be a sign that either the fuel pump relay or ECU relay isn't working (both are on a clip next to the ECU).  But the starter should still turn, that's just controlled by the ignition switch.  Worth checking the ignition switch actually!

Looks like were in the exact same situation,
I've just converted my 1.0 to a g40 n went to start it for the first time and all I get is a click now fuel pump priming or anything just a click, been searching through all the posts on the forum trying to find a solution but still nothing :(, if you solve yours let me know :)

Check the connectors at the back of the fusebox where the interior harness joins the engine bay harnesses.

the GT ecu is in there... with the GT ecu loom.. is that correct?

Did you check the connectors at the front and rear of the fusebox were okay?
