its a half... so just the rear.
But I contacted SD and the fronts are still made and are £180 iirc

Is that the door bars and the roof/a pillar bars for £180 Mark? Ie making it the same as in Robins car?

mark_crox

If this fitted in a sunroof car I'd take it, but I believe it doesn't?

Tav

I hear it can be made to fit...only issue is your statement of collection only.  Otherwise we'd have been on for a winner and I've have bought it off you.

Robin

I have a SD cage in mine and i had to cut about 2 inches off it to fit into my sunroofed car - plus it is now fully welded in rather than bolted in.

The side bars are now also too low.

Two other options I guess 1. remove sun roof/sun roof parts that are in the way 2. move door bars up?  Given that this cage doesn't have them should be a little easier?

Tav- I'd remove the sunroof/panel and leave the cage at the correct height. If you're taller than 5ft 1in (Robin's actual height) then you can't fit in with the cage lower.

Also the windscreen/door bars really need to follow the contours of the pillars/shell for the best protection.

Robin- I might be wrong, but if you cut the rear bar from the sunroof, could you fit the rear half of this cage in at normal height?

Tav

Well if Max is keen enough to let me arrange a pallet/courier/pickup I'll certainly give it a bash...add in harness bars and it'd be spot on for production hillclimb!

mark_crox

Yeah.. I don't mind :)
I work away during the week but I'm at home next Wednesday afternoon so it could be collected then?

My Full SD cage rear hoop when fitted after removing the sunroof tray was fking tight to the roof skin so i doubt there is enough room for the front part of the cage if half the sunroof tray is left in or if you cut a section just for the rear hoop because when i removed the sunroof and pop riveted some perspex to cover the hole the pop rivets was hitting the cage at the front and the back very fking tight fit.

I liked the tight fit biggest gape was 2mm  Nice no getting any body parts stuck between the cage and the shell like i have heard of people doing in a big crash..but no good unless your committed on removing the full sunroof or do it like robin did but like yoof has mentioned not the best use of the cage and could be more dangerous than good maybe!!!
