Does that 'stem' actually do anything then?  It's just that I've got a MK1 Polo G40 that I'm building and ground some of that part out to make way for the 4-branch (the MK1 'bay is smaller than the MK3/2f).  If that bit you've cut off doesn't actually do much then mine will be fine anyway?

Hi mate - project sounds good! Hoping to.do.the same soon so may be.in touch for some advice if you are a few steps ahead of me! I do not use that stem.on mine but it can be used as an additional support for the charger/assist in holding tension... this would bolt to a g40 manifold but guessing you have a standard polo four branch if you had to mod to get it fit around the charger so you would not have the mounts on the manifold to bolt this to anyway! It is certainly not a necessity but obviously vw put it there for a reason!
