Im looking at getting a new car.

Im between a mk5 golf gti, mk5 r32, seat leon tfsi or something a little older and cheaper like mk4 golf gti, seat ibiza cupra and mk4 r32.

Has anyone had any experiences with these cars or got any advice?

Cheers!

All sound very nice, why don't you look into something bigger like an M3 or a 328? Or what about a Cupra diesel (i know it sounds pants but my mate had a remapped diesel and it was so rapid it was crazy!)

'Rocco TSi? 10MY ones dipping under £10k now

R32 are a little underwhelming, not enough grunt for a performance car, but do make a lovely noise.

Always going to get better bhp/£ with soemthing turbocharged. Mk4 GTi are boring to be honest, there's some epically quick Audi S4s that pop up now and again, but I'm not sure 2 modified cars is good for the pocket.

450bhp for £6k

At around £6k you could even find a Porsche 968, amazing chassis, absolutely balanced and have loads of presence on the road.

Yeah 2 modded cars wont be good for me im afraid. Insurance is the same as my g40 for a mk5 gti. Weird really.

That s4 is nice, i did look at them though.

Im not a fan of the rocco as im not keen on the rear, but i guess i wont see much of that lol.

Justin i dont like bmw's tbh. Its gotta be turbo for me.

Yeah i know what you mean about the R32. Thats why i looked at the S4 instead.

How much is your budget ?

IMO mk5 gti, Edition 30 preferable !

edition 30, £450ish later after map 300bhp instant.

I drive a 352bhp Edition 30 but runs kw V3, lsd & thousands on exhaust and filter.
Amazing to drive so predictable and most importantly they deliver!

How about a 306 lowered with black wheels with white/silver bits on   ;D

I'd probably go for the mk5 GTI, or Scirocco TSi.

Def not a mk4 GTI, what are you thinking? :D

I'd be defo going for the Leon Cupra diesel , plenty quick enough and with the economy of a diesel.

I'd only go for a diesel if you are doing a lot of miles.

I'm liking the Mk5 GTi.  Friend just bought one and it's a great car!  He went with the DSG and smaller 17's and it devours country roads.  Surprising how much the back end helps it into corners...miles better than a Mk4.

He was under whelmed by the R32 saying it felt bogged down by the weight of the 4WD.

A Leon Cupra is no bad shout, plenty of nice looking examples to be found amoungst the cooking spec. models.

R32's are expensive to run not just on petrol.  They have a habit of eating top mounts and a few other expensive tastes.  I say drive the Mk5 GTi and Mk4 R32 and get an idea of how the two era's and two engines compare.

A long out of date thread perhaps but you're welcome to come and have a go in my Ibiza Cupra diesel if you like?
160BHP and I get anything from 37-45 MPG doing a ton, 70 mile round trip daily. I'd say I'm still not used to it, it's strange all lag then a fuck load of boost but they're meant to be mental after a remap at around 200BHP. You start to stress the clutch, etc at that point and the replacement kit (I think inc. flywheel) is ~£900 so it's a good incentive to not go mad on mods :D On the plus side it's got the biggest brakes out of the SEAT range (on the minus side it's £90 for the pads :o as there's only AP Racing and Ferodo that do them- I'm at this point now, got to choose!).
All in all it's a good car, but I'd say deffo try a few different cars before picking!

I ended up buying an audi s3 in the end. Always wanted one and my mate was selling his at a good price with a new engine in it.
