Need a bit of advice in regards to the gearbox.

Am i right in understanding that a g40 is rod change and a 6n is cable?

If so what box do i need to use?

Thanks

if your 6n is cable change (I dont think they all are) you can still use a g40 box, you can swap the cable selector from the old 6n box to the g40 one, they are both 085 boxes.

you cant do that, the G40 box doesnt have the mounting holes required to fit the cable selector. you need to get an early 6n rod shift gear selector setup.

oh ok, my mistake!  it must be the other way I'm thinking of then.  Although I guess you could swap the whole casing!  Maybe just the clutch cover side if the mounts are just on that

Thought i would need to source a rod change gear selector.

Would it be possible to do the above and swap the casing?

two 6n conversion used g40 atv internals in a 6n box casing - so yeas

I'd just get a 6n rod change set up... Really easy to swap iirc

i know 1 person who swapped the 6n casing - so thats definately possible! but far easier to do it the otherway unless you like the smell of gearbox oil (i think thats impossible to like)

If you have a CEK g40 box, it should pretty much drop in without much hassle. Like said though, if yours is a late 6n then the cable change mech might not bolt onto the CEK.
