it's Andy who does the mapping anyway, in Warwickshire.

I wouldn't take my car anywhere but andy for mapping.

my aim is to get it all up and running right then take it to be mapped properely but i need to resolve this prob first before i can even think about getting it mapped

Steve- Is it your car that's always had a problem with cam timing? Have you tried a standard cam?

I'd go for a 6n headgasket (metal) and VW headbolts (higher tensile strength than GSF and slightly shorter) these will give more clamping load than the 3F bolts for a given torque/angle input.

With a true deck face and cylinder head, you shouldn't have any problems with the gasket- try to let the car get fully hot (fan operating) and then let it cool before beaning it.

I'd check the ignition and cam timing too.

Hi yoof thanks for the input you are an inspiration to us all yes it was me that had the cam timing issue for over a year as i dont get time to use the g muchn the cam turned out to be the prob in the end it was the last cam eaton cam psd had made and it was crap the lobes were too big on the cam i think they were trying to see just how wild they could go with it but went abit too far. I got hold of another eaton cam and it worked fine also had a standard cam in but steve from psd told me the cylinder pressures were far too high with a standard cam hence the reason for needin an eaton spec cam. I have just bought a 6n head gasket nd had bought a set of head bolts from euro car parts but if you think i should get vw ones then that is what i will do you are the god of g40 and if anyone knows u do. Im going to try and get the block out and checked over this next week also so i know that is right as i have a feeling it may be warpped it was a cup car block and although it has only done 6000 miles from new its had a really hard 6000 miles
