hey guys,

im new to the whole polo scene and im currently looking to buy a G40, iv previously owned 2 golf mk2's and decided to go for something slightly different.

i sort of made up my mind that i wanted a polo GT when i went to edition 38 and saw some really nice polo examples, but since then i decided why bother with the GT when i can go for a g40 :D

i love the idea of having a supercharger but i was wondering whether its worth turbo charging one? and this leads me onto my question, whats better a turbo'd G40 or a supercharged G40?? and what are the pro's and con's of each power wise etc?

thanks for your help :D

quite afew people seem to be going turbo lately, using KO3 turbos and the like. I'm sticking with a supercharger as i wanted to stay on the same lines as the car was built.

The G-lader is good for 180bhp with the right set-up although does need servicing every 15-20k miles where as the turbo i believe does not. There are afew people using Eaton chargers from the BMW mini S but fitting kits for these are like hens teeth and hard to get hold of now.

I'm not the most clued up person on this site so i'm sure someone with abit more knowledge will continue for me!

hi,

there's lot of threads on here talking about eatons and turbos, in fact there's a whole section on turbos.  So have a look around, your questions have already been answered really.

I'm converting mine to turbo because I do track days and therefore the engine is being ragged at high RPM a lot.  chargers are too expensive to keep repairing or rebuilding when they go pop.  Can get 2nd hand K03 turbos for £50 and they are pretty strong anyway.  Plus they will make more boost than a 40mm g-lader will.  I think the biggest thing I'll miss is the noise and also the instant kick in the back when you put your foot down pretty much no matter what gear you are in, although another advantage is that the gearbox definitely wont miss that!
