long as a peice of string really.

Whether its a get an engine and bolt it in... (budget about £1000 for an engine/gearbox/charger/ancills)

or whehter you want to do preventative maintenance etc etc. (budget about 2x to 3x that)

It'll be approx same price as a g60 conversion.

Are you doing it yourself? I bought an 8v and a 1.3 and made one out the two (found it easier to just swap mounts around, etc until it fitted. I wrote lots about how I did what on the PSD forum but that's not around anymore. There's still some pics leftover on my photobucket account, although not the best.

Off the top of my head I had to make a custom downpipe, as the Golf one hit the sump (I think) and the polo one hit the Golf steering rack, so chopped the two about and got a bloke that builds space framed campers to make the extra bend and weld it up.
I may still have a copy of my wiring list/matrix too (stating what wire goes where, etc) but it was pretty easy really. I used either a Merc Sprinter IC or a Renault one (about the same size).
Driveshafts were a headache, I think the NS (left/ short) one was 1.3 golf and the OS (drivers/right) was mk1 or 2 Golf diesel after I snapped 2x 1.3 golf ones (it was about 150bhp-ish).

Apart from that and lopping off the charger engine mount I'm pretty sure the rest was straight forward. I did work in a garage with a ramp and lots of tools at my disposal though at the time so I'm sure this helped more than I remember!

I swapped it for a 6n 1.4 16v but he then broke the car about 4 weeks later :(

Oh yeh, as for prices (it was about 5 years ago), I paid £150 for the 8v and about £170 for the 1.3 ~£1k for the conversion £100 for both intercoolers. On top of that it was the usual stuff; coolant, oil, filters etc. Depends how far you want to go and in what way, I was doing it on a budget with the intention of putting it all into a nice shell after a few months running it in case it turned into a nightmare. apart from the driveshafts which I eventually got sorted It was a good car, just a shame everything was worn out. I also left the garage and went into racing so was spending 6-7 days/wk @ about 12hrs a day on cars and the last thing I wanted to do was my own, hence getting rid. always regretted it and would love to do another but I'm too lazy and uninspired nowadays, hah
