Not sure if this is the right section so feel free to move it if required

Basicaly my polo doesnt seem to get very hot in the cabin with regards to the heating.

The fan ducts in the cabin( one large and one a small slit above that at either end of the dash) The little slit on is the only one that blows warm air out, if i open the two larger vents underneath the slit one's they only blow in cold air so i have them constantly closed.

The foot wells and the windscreen vents all blow warm air (never very hot) i have flushed out all the coolant and changed the thermostat around 2000 miles ago, i have also removed the two intake/outlet pipes to the matrix and plugged in my hose pipe to try and push and gunge out but the heating still doesnt seem to get hot.

By the time i have frozen my balls off to get to work its time to turn the engine off around 15 - 20 mins do all polo's seem to take this long to heat up or have i got a blockage somewhere.

Cheers

Unfortunately the dash vents (the directional ones) are always cold air on all MK3 polos. You can mod the airbox to fix this though.

Does the coolant get to 90 degress C ? Did you bleed the heater matrix?

gavin.starr

Yea the temp reaches 90, i didnt drain the heater matrix but i gave it a good blast out with the hosepipe.

With regards to the cold vents, is there a link on how to do the mod to get them blowing hot.

Cheers

There's a little white tap on the heater matrix near the open/close valve. This tap allows you to bleed the air out of the cooling system - as the highest point the air will make it's way up here. If it's not bled out it could provent proper flow (and proper cabin heating).

Air box mod can be found here:

Ill have a do tonight, i couldnt operate my fingers last night it was that bloody cold.

I will have to sign up to the other owners club first before i cans see how to do the mod, so i will get on with that later.
