Hey,

I got my supercharger back from Peteg40 today (thanks pete), got it all fitted this afternoon and managed to start her up. Now when its idling its ok, but as soon as i give it a little bit of revs the temp light on the dash flashes constantly. The car has been sat around for some time and i recently replaced the expansion tank and replace the coolant, so since doing that, today is the first time its been fired up.

I ran the car for a few mins on idle and the light still stayed on flashing, but the engine got hot to the point you couldnt touch the manifold after only a few mins on tickover.

Any ideas?

Did you bleed the system after changing the coolant?

On the heater matrix there's a small bleed tap (normally white) which can be opened to allow the air out. Make sure your heater controls on the dash are set to '3'.

I wouldnt worry about the manifold getting hot after a few mins thats normal...I have a scar to prove lol

I bleed the system.

I also let the engine heat up and the temp gauge on the dash is working and so is the fan, but the Coolant light is still flashing. I spoke to peteG40 who said the light is conected to the plug that connects to the expansion bottle.
He sugested to check the connections and bridge the plug and see if the light goes out, i tried this and the light still comes on. I took the tape off that covers the 2 brown wires leading to the plug and they both look fine with no splits or kinks, etc.

Whats next to check? Lol!!  ::)

its not on a fuse is it which may have blown?

Hi please can you tell me if you have sorted this problem as I have the same problem with mine beginning to think it could be to do with a fault on the dash it's self?

As i have tried changing the header tank and the water temp reads as normal.

Any held would be really greatfull.

check the oil wire that plugs on the head right on the supercharger oil feed line.

maybe with unbolting/bolting the wire plug is loose.

^ Thats oil pressure.

Charlie... check fuse, then its time to get the multimeter out.  Check your earths, using the polo haynes manual for the electrical circuit diagrams at the back, trace the coolant wires and go from there.  An open cct would bring the light on (same as not having it connected).  A short to earth would put the +ve line at zero potential so may bring it on aswell.

If you look in the electrical section, you'll see that Becket had the same problem within the lat few days; he may have an answer.
