Ok, does anyone have a definative answer on exactly how much machining a G40 block would need to accept a 1w crank? I'm struggling to find detailed info on this build.

Rich.

i emialed the guy who you got this from on ebay and he said some dont need it at all but others need around 2-3mm taking off. i would of thought it would be a case of just try it and turn the crank by hand to see if it clears, if it dont grind a bit out and try again

yeah, i got the same impression from everything i've read. finding actual real info that can be relied on is tricky.

I think that's because people with 1Ws have used the 1W block so far haven't they?  Going to be a case of suck it and see I think, put the crank in and see what the score is.

Block is off being rebored, i'll feedback on this when it's done.

Well i finally got it back. Having tried the crank and pistons the flat end of the big end cap bolts catches a tiny bit on the block oil gallery. After shaving a gnats chuff off the head of the bolt it runs sweet.

i'd have taken a bit off the block not bolt - will it not be unbalanced/

as above - surely the block was the best thing to chop???

Richg40

Both bolts on each conrod have been skimmed. Can't cut into oil line too risky.
