I've always wanted one but I was concerned that I might be to tall for one, I come in at 6ft 1" and well built which isn't huge but I just wanted to put my mind at rest that i'll be comfortable in a G40?

Hi and welcome,
You should be fine in a Polo. Models fitted with a sliding steel sunroof are more limited on headroom though due to the sunroof cassette unit. You may find the gear lever is a bit close to your leg in fifth gear other than that they're pretty good for a small car.

Kit

Sounds good, how tall are you?

Not that it really matters (i'm used to a hilux which does about 18-20mpg on diesel) but it would be nice to know, how many miles do you get from a full tank (on average) and how much does it cost to fill from empty?

if you do get one and find you haven't got as much head room as you'd like then seats from a Corrado or Scirocco (the old ones) bolt right in and sit low, will give a good few inches more room plus a much better driving position in my opinion.

as for fuel, you'll get 35-40mpg from it if you drive it like a granny but 20mpg if you drive it like your hair is on fire all the time.

Kit

35-40 mpg :o thought it would be less with a 1.3 running a supercharger

hayesey

well off boost, it's just a 1.3 :)  but to be fair you need to drive like a granny to get that and you'll prob find the temptation to put your foot down quite often is too hard to resist

Kit

It's a belt driven compressor, it's parasitic all the time surely?

A turbo would do what your saying?

hayesey

yeah but it doesnt affect mpg too much when off boost, trust me, you can get 35-40mpg from a g40 on a decent run if driving like a granny.  a turbo helps matters too, I find my turbo much nicer to drvie on motorways actually.

lance

im 6"2 and well built and fit fine mate.

Much better without a sunroof if you are that tall.

I've got over 40mpg but that is driving almost all off boost. I rarely get under 30 out of a tank and thats not hanging around for a lot of it.
