I need a few parts for my oil pressure gauge but unsure what exactly. I just have the gauge, do I  need a sender and adapter? What size adapter to I need to fit in the block? Thanks

Most gauges come with a matched sender, you'll need to buy the specific one for your gauge if you don't have one otherwise the calibration won't be right(though to be honest most budget gauges are far from accurate anyway.)

IF you have one then the best thing to do is drill and tap a sump plug to suit, then next time you change your oil fit it in and just add wire!

it's best to fit it to the head, get an m10x1mm t-piece (:same thread as brake pipe fittings but also look on ebay).  Then you need a sender and some wire, assuming the gauge is an electrical one, if it's mechanical then you need to run an oil line to it.  Can get senders on ebay too, I doubt that a £50 gauge is going to be calibrated to work with a specific sender, it's probably set to work with the common "VDO" type sender as most are.

g40 jp,

Give "http://www.realsteel.co.uk/" a call, they are the Uk dealership for Autometer gauges. They will be able to provide you with the correct sender/sensor

Thanks for the help, got the parts this morning. ill have a go at fitting it sunday

g40 jp

thanks for the help, fitted it today. What sort of readings should I get from the gauge??

hayesey

never less than 20psi at idle really.

g40 jp

It reads just under 50 on idle and 100 when revs increase, does that sound ok?

G-spot

Is that on cold oil?  If so thats sounds about right.
Which oil are yoiu using, once hot it should be 20-30psi at idle maybe raising another 5 or 10 on higher RPM loads.

hayesey

yeah you need to check it with hot oil, go for a nice blast round some b-roads or a nice motorway run and get some heat into it.
