Hi,

I have to modify the pulley system on my engine as the belt runs straight through my modified engine mount, so I have sourced longer belts and a roller-bearing pulley. The original route of the belt was a triangle (crank - alternator - g lader), but now there will be a 'dip' in the route to avoid contact with the engine mount. Can anyone see any problems this may encounter? Any comments will be gratefully recieved.

There won't be any problem. I hv tensioner almost the same as you

Have you done this conversion too? I'm getting through it, engine mounts are HARD when you don't have a welder.
Let me know bro.

cheers, Will.

Are they PSD pulleys? If so it looks like the wrong belt profile to me.

PeteG40

punch is correct - yu need an 8m profile, or you'll probably find your toothies wearing prematurely.

Well noticed guys,
that belt is an old cambelt which happens  to be the right length, the correct (longer gates belts are on order). by profile, do you mean thickness of the belt?

Thanks again.

Will.

no he means the profile of the teeth, using a belt with the wrong shaped teeth will wear the aluminum pulleys quite badly.

oh i see, they are PSD pulleys, I took the charger (with pulley attatched!) to my local bearing and belt dealer (Berkshire Bearings) who checked the pulleys and have ordered me the correct belts at the right length. They can get me Gates belts. This is what worried me as the pulleys have got some chips and dinks in them, but they'll have to last. Thanks again for the input fellas, i'll get the build thread on here as soon as.
