Ticking?!

Just gt my G on the road, and its making a loud ticking noise? You cant really notice it till you accelerate. Is this normal? I thought the tappets were self adjusting? Just dont want to do any damage.

The tappets bleed down quite quickly, but take a while to properly charge full of oil. Always found soaking them in oil before they go in helps.

Injectors are also unsilenced on some cars, and quite loud, this can lead to a ticking sound.
