I fitted the tooth belt kit i got from ebay, due to the wider pulleys when i take tight left hand bends the altenator pulley rubs on the ARB bracket.

Its not the belt rubbing on the lip where there is a cut out (my G does have this as its a later model).

basically my question is, if i undo all the engine mounts could i find a few extra mm moving the engine to the passengers side?

Or is it safe to grind some of the ARB bracket away?

Thanks for reading

Yep, you can do both of your suggestions. Get someone to push over the engine to the passenger side whilst you tighten up all the engine mounts.

yeh you did jake but i forgot lol!

im sure you told me on the phone, because it wasn't much of an issue i never got round to fixing it! I'm going to a track day in a few weeks so I'm just havin a look at it.

Didn't you machine a couple of mm off the rear of the pulley?

the only problem is the alternator pully it doe not have the woodruff key slot in (you can file it in) and its to wide i took a couple of mm off the back down to the little rim on the back of that pulley and used a dremel to take just a little bit more out of the arb bracket just to make sure it was no where near the belt

cheers jake,

I will take the pulley to a local engineers then so they can mill it so it still spins true.

I have already dremmelled some of the bracket so that shouldn't be a problem.

Just out of curiosity, what did you use to take the material from the pulley?

dannyb.G40

It has got the notch rae, its the pulley itself rubbing on the middle of the bracket as the engine moves.

The toothed one is considerably wider than the standard pulley unfortunately

Some Home Brew Engineering ;)

Rae these pulleys are very wide compared to psd ones that why you have to take a little more out just to be on the safe side

The German pulleys are just adapted bog standard HTD machine pulleys, unlike the psd items which were custom made ally items.

You can get them the german ebay type pulleys from any good gear/pulley stockist  ::)
