suprised you ain't got it off yet, i'd be dying to see what the damage was!

When i melted a valve and had to be towed home as soon as the car his the driveway the head was off within an hour to see what the damage was like.

PeteG40

depends who did the head... coul dbe golf ones... psd used them in the early days

GAF2

Hmmm.. interesting, i wonder if i fone jabba would they know the size of their valves?

Dan

Are you measuring the top of the valve head ? You might wan't to be measuring the seat.

Looks like you might need some inlet and exhaust valves there.

Nick_S

Exhautst valve on cyilnder 1 is different to the rest anyhow, so looks like it was done on a buget or bent valve before. I would get a full set of replacement valves to be on the safe side.

Bit of an update,

turns out that none of the valves are standard, the exhausts are 1mm bigger than jabba's exhaust valves, the inlets are the same valve head size but the stems are shorter in length as are the exhaust valves.  So i havent a clue what they used to do the BVH, but anyway my brother works in a cylinder head shop so i got all the valves, a victor reinz head set, head bolts and valve stem oil seals for £95 and the labour... a box of beer lol.

hayesey

the exhaust valves will be mk2 golf ones then.  no idea why the stems are shorter than normal though.  what as the guy comparing them with?

GAF2

I think they are comparing them with standard G40 ones, doesnt matter now anyway its nearly rebuilt. Just in the process of trying to plumb in a FMIC now.
