exhaust manifold studs and nuts?

I want my exhaust manifold ceramic coating so need some new studs and nuts and as the standard ones go rusty and crap looking are there any better options that wont go so shit looking? what sizes and where from?

nuts - i use brass/copper ones - gsf supply for 50p each.

studs are m8x28 i think. Could try stainless ones?

do brass ones not stay pretty clean for long? where do you get stinless ones from? cheers

problem is they are a very short stud, most are much longer. Not sure where to get one in that size.

the nuts look ok after a while.

doubt they're going to stay looking clean for very long no matter what material they are made of.

Studs I would get standard. The only thing I might be tempted to get different is stainless washers.

I paid £8 each for some VAG one's whe I was in a rush..! I feel aggrieved now.
I'd now buy the 50p ones and change them 16 times.

It`s worth replacing studs if there lookin a bit manky if you have the head off
or are fitting a zorst/gasket whatever.

I`d fit standard or good equivalent ones as they are tempered correctly.
They work harden over time with being heated up and cooled many times
Hence why they eventually snap.

Don`t use Stainless Threaded bar as stainless has a different expansion
rate to normal steel and pulls/bends/contorts more.
The studs they supply are used for a reason.

Theres no way VAG manifold nuts come to &8. They are normally pence each !

Seriously, (although I now realise I meant the other end of that manifold, where it meets the downpipe, appologies) I have been looking at the recipt now in amazement .. The gasket was special too, and a lot more than the cheapo one that fits a GT i got by accident. I got the manifold studs off a scrap VW and new nuts. Just paid and accepted it's worth it...

Brass nuts are an essential. Stainless nuts or studs are often permanently attached once they have been hot a few times!
