  Hello everyone.
  First time on the forum.
I've had a G40, K reg. for 7 years. It was my daily drive for about 2 years. I have only driven it very occassionally over the last 5 years, using my Seat Ibiza diesel for work. Its MOT'd and back on the road but has developed a problem:
Starts very easily. Pulls well in 1st +2nd but push it in 3rd and it suddenly loses all power. Ease off and the power stutters back. It will drive fairly reliably at part throttle in higher gears. Under load it gives up. Push it more and it will die completely, starting only after some patience.
Not wanting to risk damage it is confined to the driveway.
At weekend replaced the external fuel pump with Bosch one. The 2 fuel filters and coil. All new parts. Still the same.
If anyone has got any suggestions I would be very gratefull.

I've had a look at all the pipework and it seems ok. I'll take off the charger to intercooler pipe and have a good look. It is quite oily!

I'll change the leads at the weekend and have another look at the dissy cap and rotor arm. Do you think it could be anything to do with lambda probe / hall senser / blue temp. sender ? Cheers ..Roger

sounds like a weak ignition system to me too.  I'd start with the spark plugs, if they have been sat around a few years they'll need replacing.  Maybe the coil too.

I've checked out some of the threads and the Bosch W5DPO's seem like the best choice. I've always had NGK's in all my other cars but the I'll stick with the ones that gave me 2 years without missing a beat. Eurocar Parts in Trafford Park, Manchester have ordered me some for tommorow. Less than £10 each including VAT. Equivalent NGK's about £6 each. I'll pop em in with some new leads and give it a go.

New platinum plugs and OE quality HT leads fitted. Dissy cap and rotor arm cleaned up. New ciol. Sweet as.............Out of petrol on 1/4 tank on gauge! Tank sender must be way out.
Full tank of fuel later and its had a bit of a run. Seems ok now.
New cambelt and water pump next I think. While the bottom pulley is off I'm going to fit some toothed pulleys. Does anyone know the best source or does anyone have a set that they are selling?
