I have got a load of stone chips on the rear quarter in front of the rear wheels, didn't have the same problem on the red G as it had arch trims but this grey one doesn't.

This guy has come plastic guards on his, they look shite but does the job.

Does anyone know where to get some from?

I would ideally like to get hold of some textured tape stuff which is used on the B - Pillar to stick in front of the rear wheels but don't know if you can get this in sheets???

DKnight

robin what do i do for a job lol

that plastic arch spat looks like an early mk2 golf one. i wonder if you could use a later one that will cover the lower arch and meet up with the quarter trim?

DKnight

well as its sunny ive been out and sized the job up, yeah will take me 2min to do, but the one problem/issue is the mounting holes for the trim, it will be hard to mould the vinyl into this, and their will be a gap behind it

it can be mounted over it and it will be right enough, but it leaves room for dirt and grim to get in behind it, chances are it wont effect it, but it will be there?

i can make you some up anyway and see how they go

Robin

Dan is it not possible to cut out some of that tape stuff in the shape of the plastic gaurd to stick directly onto the paint work?

DKnight

yeah thats exactly what i have done, but there are 2 locating holes on the panel

I agree Robin, that does look shite!
As you have no trim holes to worry about, why not use some of that clear adhesive film made specifically for high impact areas just like this? I'm sure I've seen it used on some new cars.
I can't remember where I've seen it for sale, but it can be bought on a roll/sheet and cut to size.
It'd keep the clean look without the need for those nasty trims.

DKnight

oh infact im wrong!

gt and g40 's, cars that are fitted with the arch trims, dont have the holes drilled out, i think!

i will get some made, i have some of the clear protective material too, not got round to doing these for cars yet, i intend on doing it tho!

Robin

Dan they do have holes but mine have been welded up and filled in when the car was resprayed.

Some clear ones would be great, what kinda time scale i am looking at to get some from you?

DKnight

clear ones may take longer, on the textured stuff would be better, and would do a better job if im honest!

Robin

textured is cool by me, when can you sort me out with a pair blood?

DKnight

pm me your address i will get some sent out
