Ok, so yesterday morning the engine wouldn't start.
Came back after college and gave it a turn over and it started fine. I then presumed it was out of petrol as the gauge is about as accurate as measuring things with your hands.
Walked over to a petrol station got a jerry can and put £5 in it. Filled it up and it wouldn't start again.

Pulled a plug and its sparking fine, cleaned out dizzy too so its not an electrical problem.
I THINK it might be the fuel pump, lay under the car and couldn't hear it buzzing like I used to on my old Mk3 FOX.

What do you guys think? Any ideas?

I've only had the car for a week and a half!

If you have spark in the plugs, it's possibly a fuel issue...
Go to a local garage to measure the fuel pressure...
Oh... And check  the single fuse that's over the fuse box (it's the fuel pump fuse)

could be a fuel pump relay?

yeah you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime when you first turn the ignition on, before even cranking the engine.  Then when you crank the engine the pump should run all the time.  If the pump isn't running then since this is an intermittent problem I'd suspect a sticking fuel pump relay.  This is clipped to the side of the ECU, the fuel pump relay is the four pin one.

Right, well i pulled the fuel pump fuse out and it was fine, check the others and they were fine too.

Turned the ignition on and the fuel pump buzzed and it started.

Maybe the fuse wasn't in all the way or something?

Who knows. Just took it for a blast down seinsburys to get myself some sudofed! deffo worth the day off college!

Thanks for your help guys!

yeah just see how it goes.  Maybe the fuse was making poor contact.  If it happens again though I'd have a look at the relay.

New relays only a couple of quid anyway. Mine was preet fubared when it decided to die and leave me stranded!
