I was sadened to experience a great loss yesterday when my beloved Henry Hoover gave up the will to live. After 15mins of life support and de/reconstructive surgery things were looking promising, but it was no use the line was running flat and i laid him to rest.

Continuing my day, with what felt like a huge part of my workshop missing, i turned to my trusty £15 angle grinder, who has been by my side through thick and thin (litereally), to keep me going. However this was a short lived experinence, with him bursting into flames mid-use and burning my arm before billowing out with smoke completely unexpectedly. There was to be no life support for this chap - he was truely dead.

RIP Hen and G

:'(  terrible times indeed, I hope you can pull through mate.

I remember when my last £10 B&Q own make angle grinder died, he fought to the end trying to cut a crappy old mk2 golf subframe in half to take to the tip.  but once the smoke has come out of the wires, it's really hard to get it back in.

i bought a bnq grinder once, the cheap one, turned it on, used for like 3 seconds, put down, and it continued to heat up, so much so it then burst into flames, sounds like a common fault!

Im sad about henry tho, let him be a garden creature now, something to look at :D

that one of mine lasted years, got used a lot too!  My current one is another cheapo B&Q one and I've had this a couple of years now.  It also gets used a LOT.

Henry hoovers? Are these equally loveable siblings or mindless clones? Things might not be so bad.

If you thought about that joke as much as I did then well done.  ;)

Sad to see the hoover go and how did you guys guess that the grinder came from B+Q?  :D

What angle grinder should i buy this time - looking for something a little more aware of 'fire hazard'? Who has a good well abused grinder they can recommend me on? My last Makita's motor went after very little use!!

I still like the B&Q cheapo ones they seem to last me a few years each.  Although I was round at a mates house the other day doing some work on his mk2 golf and was using his more expensive grinder (think it was Draper) and it certainly felt more powerful than mine does.

Yeah i wanna get something a little better than the B+Q beauties, just hope it lasts for the extra money!
