Hi, I have had nothing but bad luck with my g40...

Bought the car and had only 2-3 months of driving it before being sent off for repairs. Has been with jabbasport for nearly 3 months!!

So far the Gearbox has been fully rebuilt with a new crownwheel from Germany, (this took long enough!) now the flywheel is worn.

Does anyone know where I can buy a new flywheel from apart from VW as they don't have any in the UK. (on back order as well!)

thank you.

Sure PhilJ can get hold of lightened flywheels for G40s.

Jabba still got your car? Will have to go be nosey!! lol.

vikash

yeah jabba sport still havemy car. Will find out tomorrow how bad the damage is.. do you live near by? it is the grey g40 if you go have a look.. costing me a lot of money at the moment.!!

i will pm phil and see if he can get a flywheel.

Dan

Surely you can get it skimmed !

PeteG40

or if truly goosed - get another one off any mk3

lance

yea as pete said mate all mk3's are the same just get one of a polo from the scrap yard they'll be clean enough just buy new bolts.

vikash

Just found out that I will not be needing a new flywheel. It has been rechecked by the engineer and all is okay.

So looks like I will finally be getting my car back!!

Thank you for the help..

Will post some pictures up once it has been cleaned.

Got a few plans for the car but due to the gearbox only plans are a sound system

anyone have 3 way components in the door?

i live 5/6mins from Jabba. I'm real close by!!! Was gonna get them to do my eaton conversion but they wasn't really interested in my money!

Dan

Probably because it's such a big engineering task to get an eaton properly fitted and working on G40. Just for them to pump a load of hot air.

Good to hear your progressing anyway

PeteG40

you not a fan of eatons then dan???

Dan

Not really, doesnt seem right in going into all the effort it takes to do the job properly. When the charger itself is less efficient, produces more heat and isn't a true compressor either. I understand the benefits of doing it, but they seem tiny compared to task.

If you fancy taking me out in yours to change my mind, be my guest  :)

i will if/when its done!!!

That and the fact it makes that god awful strangling a bag of cats noise!

hayesey

I agree with both Dan & Sam on that front.  I can't understand why anyone would want to use an eaton any more when a turbo conversion seems to make so much more sense.  The thing I'll miss most about not having a supercharger is the noise of the g-lader but I can't stand the air raid siren noise eatons make.

lance

i liked my eaton for a while gets a bit much eventually though, if you can put a throttle before the charger they wont make much noise at all. Plus they are alot stronger than the G-ladder. that might cause an argument.
