Title: DOH!!!! trapped my knock sensor wire
Post by: youngprodigys on December 24, 2010, 07:53:00 pm
Hey guys - trapped my knock sensor wire with the screw which holds down the ISV (between the waterpipe and the screw) and it now has a mark in the wire so im replacing it (genuine only)

Question - has anyone used a newer knock sensor? the part number is 030 905 377 and i know a few 20v turbos use 030 905 377 H
is it the same part but with a longer cable or is it a different frequency? - anybody know???
im sure Andy will know the answer to this.

im looking forward to spending £60 at the dealer for this stupid mistake

right a bit of research is showing me that the part number along with a letter on the end "A C H etc" just denotes wire length- sensors are the same.

Great info. Could you list the part numbers and cable lengths please? Many thanks

Sensor is just a pietzo microphone, so I'd imagine any one will do.

well the stock G40 knock sensor has the code

030 905 377 and bosch 0261231066 and is 300mm long

golfs of the same year have
054 905 377 A and is 740mm long and green connector
054 905 377 G and is 535mm long and blue connector
and a quick browse on the net shows they have the same bosch part number but the last 3 digits differ - and again according to the datasheet - this denotes length

here is the bosch website which gives you this data sheet where they point out the later part of the part number denotes length
