I just phoned my local VW place and they tell me that the front pads are obsolete now since last march, is this true?
And if so where is the next best place to get pads?
I run std size grooved discs
thanks
Mark
I run ferrodo (DS something) pads on my standard replacement brembo discs.
I find this set up better than the drilled and groved discs and radicam pads I had before.
I would recommend them.
Search on line should reveal a good source

Can get the oem brombos from GSF
ds2500 pads are highly recommended, i use Ebc Green stuff find them ok for normal driving and light to moderate use. Are very dusty tho ..
grayg40 what power output has your polo got? also what style of driving do you have mainly in this car?

I'm sorry but you can explain what is GSF? ::) http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ right?
Hi,
so I'm thinking to buy Brembo Max + EBC Green Stuff or Brembo Max + Ferodo DS Performance. Some people informed that the first one is very good, someone told that for best performance I must use Tarox g88 with Ds 2500, but more expensive. What you suggest?
Another thing that I want to put steel Mesh what I shoud do in your oppinion.
thanks very much for you Help
GBlue
i use brembo max (grooved) discs at the moment and ebc green stuff.
is ok .. but not enough for a high powered g40, on a lightly modded polo this would be fine.
i do not understand "i want to put steel mesh" .. where are you wanting to put the steel mesh ?

I'm Sorry Cables steel mesh. Replace rubber Cables :)
ah, here we call them "braided hoses"
they are stainless steel braided lines,
you can buy them from Goodrich website. (they are listed as mk1 golf)
Ah ok Thanks for your Help.
Just one thing, put braided hoses is a good solution or not justified?
Thanks
Good solution as this reduces brake pedal travel.
Rubber slightly expands where steel stas rigid.
Hope this explains
i forgot about this post, i got pads from venom ms, black diamond ones!
they work well with the matching grooved disks

No problem :)
I know the Ferodo DS2500 pads are supposed to be good but have you seen the price of them??!!! :o
Maybe someone knows better, but they seem to retail around £90 for a G40! Bloody rediculous if you ask me especially when you consider the size of 'em.
While we're on the subject of pads, I can never remember if it's the small or large pad that faces the piston? Helping out a mate and need to know for tomorrow!

DJtez tell me one thing, what discs you use? I'm reading some posts from another people and I think the Ebc its not the best solution. I'm confused and I Didnt't know what I shood choose :(
Some people said that the green stuff make to much noise it's true? I heard about tarox g88 and pads ds2500 is a good choice!
Anyone can help me please?
EBC are just a cheap option, there are in no way 'bad pads' but there are not the best.
I have never noticed noisy breaking, and i use Brembo Max (grooved discs)
When it was around 130-135bhp the set-up was ok, but at 165-170 it was little scary.

This soon becomes apparant. Will only fit one way round. I always think, "now which way do these go?", then soon remember as i try and fit a square through a round hole!
I've found Greenstuffs to be scary when braking from high speeds. I'll certainly not be using them on track.
