Shall I get the water ways welded and re skimmed as 1 in paticular seems to be very close to the sealing ring

They 1341 pistons? If so then you will be fine - lots of us are running 1341cc without issues.

Just thought the corrosion on the one pictured was excessive, giving little sealing area?

Last thing I want is head gasket problems once I've built it
I would:
- measure depth of pitting
- calculate CR with block decked to remove pitting
- if too high use stock composite gasket (not 6n metal item)
- Swear, remove pistons, strip block and get it machined.
You could do the opposite and weld it up and surface grind the face, but I'd have thought a new block would be cheaper.
