Been out and about in this a fair bit so far, even managed to spend a day at the Polo Social at Billing.







Hopefully more shows will be attended before the year is out.

It would appear that I've been driving this around with the king lead hanging off the coil! This is the state of the lead -



The terminal on the coil is similarly frazzed, somehow it still ran perfectly though?
I only noticed the disconnected lead when checking the oil!

New coil off eBay, and a spare king lead fitted, and its all in order again.

Thanks for the repair came in the form of a puddle of gearbox oil on the garage floor. What was left in there was drained, then the knackered selector shaft seal was replaced - it was all going well until the time came to refill the gearbox. The fill/level plug would not come out! I must have overtightened it in the past, as it was FT and ended up rounded. As there was no oil in the box, I couldn't drive it to my unit and get it on a ramp, so desperation set in. The only other means of getting oil in there is through the speedo drive hole, so the speedo drive came out leaving me with a tiny hole to fill it through. A piece of plastic fuel pipe and a little funnel were used for delivery - 3 litres needed to go in, and each litre took 40 minutes to unload through the skinny pipe. Arse cake! It's done now anyway, check out the comedy rig cobbled together to avoid holding the funnel while the oil trickled in!



Normal service now resumed.

Took this for a spin today, no oil on the garage floor this time  ;D



It's filthy, and covered in dead flies, but when the light levels are low you'd never know!

Finally got round to replacing the rounded gearbox level plug today, the ride out afterwards put a grin on my grille, which was very welcome after a few days of illness.

After 16k miles, the crappy jubilee clips I'd used on my charger to intercooler pipe finally gave up. I'd intended to change them a long time ago, but never got round to it - in all fairness, they did quite well!

Made a bit of room in the unit



The burst jubilee clip causing 100% boost leak



The cure, thanks to eBay



Normal service resumed again, thankfully! This car really is pointless without forced induction!

Finally got round to doing the cambelt on this today. Embarrassingly​ it's not been done since the engine was built in late 2007!



It's a hell of a lot easier to do when the engine is on a stand - the job was more of a faff than it should have been due to the toothed belt lower pulley being wider than a standard one. It's done now anyway, just needs a quick buff up and it's ready to enjoy again!

Just had these powdered, same size and offset as the RAs that are on there.



Came up pretty well considering their age



I don't know if they'll suit it or not - I guess I'll have to try them out at some point. :)

Thank you kindly! It still scrubs up reasonably well even after nearly 8 years.  8)

MOT'd this today - first time its been driven on wet roads in my ownership! Hadn't even done 800 miles since the last test, I really need to get out in it more.  :(

The clutch pedal on this has been requiring more and more effort of late, and today it started to get noisy too. After changing the oil and filter, I changed the clutch cable too - no jacking or lifting required, just a little entry level contortionism and in it went. The difference is incredible - I probably should have done it last year!



Time to put some miles on it.  8)
