Hope it sells but seems a tad optimistic

Low mileage, yeah, but seems a bit much. GLWS whoever it is.

For £6.5k I would want original wheels and the original red stripe on the bumpers.

Maybe I'm too picky though!  ;)

I read this advert and was pretty pleased about what how much I paid for mine
For an extra 20k miles on the clock, I thought it was a bit much especially on those
Wheels its a nice car but not 6.5k nice,

Practical Classics is suggesting £4,000 for a low miles, well maintained original, so more delusional than optimistic I'd say.

Saw this ad on fleabay this morning, nearly fell off my chair!

At that kind of money I'd expect exceptionally low miles, utter mintness inside and out, perfect history and 100% originality. This looks like none of those, and I'm sure tidier more honest cars have sold for under £3k.

I saw this. 140BHP but no mention of how, or proof?

BiG-G

For that price I'd want a matching black 1 thrown in too ;D

Will the g40 ever move from cult to classic?   Until then £6.5k is a big ask...shame really as once you realise that they only feel unsettled because you're not going fast enough they are cracking cars.

Still you never know, he sold a 2CV for £13k so the sellers got balls I'll give him that.   Let me just say that again...£13k for a 2CV...the worlds gone mad.

hayesey

jesus!  You'd have to pay me £13k to get me to take a 2CV off your hands.

I don't think the G40 will ever be a proper classic, they're just not well known enough.  To get to the state were mk1 or mk2 escorts have got to, they need to have been popular enough in the first place.  I was watching an episode of Wheeler Dealers last night where they did up a mk1 escort and then sold it for nearly £12k, I don't think the g40 will ever get to that status.  Cult classic yes, mainstream proper classic I doubt it.

scotsjohn

I doubt the G will even make the cult classic stage. Too many of the few remaining ones are being modded(including mine) to leave a recognisable base of OE cars. Time for an OE register maybe.

hayesey

not sure it has to stay standard to be considered a cult classic, I'd say it already is that.  the vast majority of mk1/mk2 escorts didnt stay standard either

I saw this a little while ago and was a little suprised!  6.5k and it doesn't have original wheels, red strips, after market stereo and no rear numberplate surround.

A nice example but not for 6.5k.
