Possibly oil seal fail
« on: April 01, 2012, 10:35:25 pm »
Driving today and noticed a little white smoke out the back. Went on boost and it was the same but 10 mins later when i dropped a friend off it was worse. Engine bay covered in oil from the boost return t-piece. Undid a boost pipe, turned it on and it just spluttered everywhere.

Now i had this problem a few months (without the smoke) ago but its only when running the boost mod. Could it be caused from a blockage in the oil breather pod/dome not allowing crank pressure to escape? The 25mm pipe i have coming off it was breathing but there was no oil in it at all, whereas before i have noticed there was.

Charger is only around 8k since last rebuild. There is oil everywhere though. Oil pressure gauge was fine the whole time too so i guess it couldn't be a blocked oil feed return from the charger?

Yeah, i think it was the scroll seals, the spring on them that keeps them tight got chewed up and caused the seal to fail.
