aftermarket management
« on: September 20, 2012, 10:25:22 pm »
Basicly.. I'm thinking of going aftermarket for my management for when I turbo my g40 due to the fact I wouldn't mind lauch control and anti lag...

Any views on this?

True anti-lag (massive ignition retard and lots of fuel) will bugger most turbos fairly quickly, and generates massive amounts of heat for the turbo/exhaust manifold to dissipate, and give them both very short service lives.

Launch control- great, but you'll have to get front wheel speed and rear wheel speed as variables to control to, which isn't that easy on standard Polo components, but can be done.

When you read ECU specs and features, also consider the amount of time and effort to calibrate them properly yourself, or the cost of paying someone else to do it, not cheap.

I can pass you on details of the fella that built up a megasquirt ecu for my 16v G60,  fair priced and he's got bags of knowledge!  He's London based, not sure where you are?

I've scrapped the idea of aftermarket management now.. going to run a stock ecu just chipped..
