On the drive round to my mums today, i noticed that there was a very strong smell of fuel every time i stopped at a set of lights or a junction.

So when i got to my mums I decided to investigate.

To my horror the whole of the underneath of my car at the back where the pump is located was covered in fuel. I found out that the pump developed a small hole in the side where the bracket has been rubbing on it. I got my GF to turn on the ignition to prime the pump and it sprayed like a hose pipe underneath.

Needless to say i have lost alot of fuel on the way to my mums and I now require a new pump. I wouldnt mind but this pump is only 6 months old and its buggered probably my own fault.

When i bought mine I found it for £80 which i didnt think was too bad.

But now I cant find one for under £107 can any one shed some light on where to do some shopping to find one.

Any help would be great.

Oh and whilst im at it Im going to make a new hanger, so i require some new rubber thingies that the hanger is bolted to under the car.

Any one know where to get some from?

You can get the rubber things from GSF, I got some from there not long back. AS for the pump, if you can get the bosch part number try a few bosch dealers or even ebay?

can you remember what the rubber things are called i cant remember

Do not have to use that fuel pump, can buy a new one on ebay listed for other cars that fits.

for e.g im using a bmw m3/m5 635csi in line pump.

Pretty much the same as sytec's O.T.P 017

the bmw one i got on ebay brand new & courier for £45 and its upgraded from a normal pump pressure.

But you could use a less powerfull pump if you found one

I have just been picture hunting on the net and found this.

Can anyone tell me what the white plastic box is for?

hayesey

it's just a little accumulator

Can it be removed or is it needed? Im going to make a new fuel hanger at the weekend and it would be easier if it wasnt there.

What does it accumulate? Just crap from the tank (Im still learning)

hayesey

it's needed, it accumulates fuel from the lift pump to ensure a smooth supply to the main pump.  Kind of like a buffer.
