First run of engine - misfiring and metallic noise?
« on: July 28, 2012, 11:16:35 am »
I finally got my G back together yesterday after the engine being out the car since Feb and having a charger rebuild. It's all running, but has a slight misfire. I'm off to pick up a new coil and leads now. It's already had a new dizzy cap and rotor arm, and the plugs are only about 5k old anyway. Any suggestions on what it could be if this doesn't clear it up?

Also, there's a metallic jangling noise every so often.

Here's a Youtube video of it, hopefully you can hear it:

Any ideas what the noise could be? It sort of sounds like the alternator pulley guides to me maybe?

Cheers

Always a worrying time, suggest you remove the charger/alternator belts first, that should help with sourcing the rattles.Sure the timings spot on?; when you're at the last stages and keen to get things up and running is the time you're most likely to slip up.

Cheers guys, I tightened the guides on the charger pulley and it's a lot better now. It got an MOT last night so will be on the road again after I tax it tomorrow :D
