Test advert…. Cost no idea. I think I’ll add up the 2nd hand value of the parts and that’s a good starting point.
Right gents….. tough times means tough measures. Time to get rid of my Polo (maybe). In polo Coupe S form this was my first ever car that I drove when I was 17. So Its done me some fun times. I converted the engine to a multipoint GT engine and then finally decided to do a G40 conversion with a twist, started a Turbo conversion. While doing that Ive had a factory build G40 also modified and done other Mk2 GT conversions has other Mk3 GTs (2f, oops sorry Im old school) GTs. I have too many cars and too many projects and If Im honest Im just looking for space now. But I’ve obviously spent a lot of time and spent a fortune on the car so looking for a reasonable return, and if that means splitting some bits off then that’s fine.
1983 Polo Coupe S, converted to G40, Original Comet blue 131k miles (estimated, with this car, its largely irrelevant), Private Plate may included in sale, 1.3 Turbo specific
I’ve owned the car from since June 1994, Yep 30 years! It was my mainstay for a good few years till I was old enough to ensure bigger more powerful cars.
I want all in on some mods and sadly never really finished them as I’ve moved onto other project Kit cars and all sorts, and just had this stored. Ive driven Modified G40s, My own one had a full blend, charger, toothed pulleys etc and A rather infamous saloon with the same but flowed heads dual exhaust that pulley 170bhp on a dyno. The ‘T40’ is way faster. Doesn’t have the same low down grunt but the fast flowing manifold and large exhaust and of course the LSD means it grips and goes and I have VIVID memories of driving this for the first time and it scaring the crap out of me! Fun!
While the chassis did plenty miles with me the Car in ‘T40’ form has really only done 1500 miles or so and that was along time ago. It actually starts drives and move freely. So My plan was to get the body work in useable order and try a local hill climb for fun!
Engine:
Theres 2 engines available. The one that is in it, the core of it is a standard G40 engine, that had been partially rebuild after some testing with the Turbo in the early days. This engine has carried me on the road up and down the length of the country and the videos and running of the car have always been with this engine. It came from a crash damaged car in 2001. It’s this engine all the ancillaries and mods have been made to first before upgrading the core engine to release all the potential.
The second engine I bought from PPP and it’s a 1341 bottom end with the Pitstop Developments Accrelite pistons and a much sought after big valve head, ready to bolt together go in.
The engine in the car also has:
T2/T25 Hybrid Turbo made by Universal turbos
Custom manifold and exhaust, made By Swona Exhausts (Bike specialists)
Newman Turbo cam,
Adjustable Vernier Cam Pully
K&N air filter
Red Injectors, with injector covers
Digifant ECI with upgraded MAP sensor and appropriate PPP map for Map sensor Turbo and injectors.
Custom Front mounted inter cooler
Aquamist Water Methanol injection
GT 3f flower inlet manifold, painstakingly polished, I’m never doing one of those again.

The master cylinder was uprated to the corrado version, but switch back as the leverage was needed for the big brakes as it has no servo.
Flexis are braided lines all round
Body/Chassis.
Everything has been reconditioned and repainted, I have pictures of the work but of course the car has sat about for along time so will need cleaned and polished up
The body work has largely been replace by Carbon Fibre panels that require a fair bit of finishing to look good.
Carbon panels and moulds are included for, Door skins, 1/4 panels, Front bonnet and wing Clam shell, tailgate skin. I have unfinished plugs for bumpers and side skirts.
At the time I designed the front clam shell to fit with mk4 golf headlights which were amazing at the time but now very dated so I now have the original Mk2 polo headlights with single headlight grill
The rear end has had a mk3(2f) conversion so has the updated tailgate
Polycarbonate windows all round except a new old stock VW front windscreen
Full G40 Cup Safety Devices roll cage powder-coated in blue
Custom front space frame
Fuel tank filler neck has been moved inside but I also have an ATL fuel tank ready to use instead.
There is a Fire extinguisher system but the Caister itself while still charged would likely need to be serviced/replaced
There are a full set of VDO Gauges from an Audi 80 Sport, and mk2 dash controls. But there is no dash, its simply a carbon panel with parts inserted.
There is currently a manual/mechanical boost controller. Intention was to fit an apexi controller or even a new DTA ECU with boost control

Myself:
I feel I should say a little about myself, and the circumstance relating to this sale. After all certainly in enthusiast circles reputation can account for a lot and can provide a lot of information. Don’t really want to sell as its been on my bucket list to finish the project I started in my 20s. BUT I have 5 cars and this car gets no attention.
I have mechanical sympathy…..I ran plenty turbo cars including 550bhp monsters and am well aware of the need to allow the turbos and oil to cool down and warm up.
I have rebuilt so many engines VAG, motorbikes etc and I’m reasonably well known in the old school Scottish VW scene as a mechanic geek type.
I have loads of picture of the work done etc so just give me a shout, but might take me a while to find them.
Unfortunately, this car is worth more in bits I reckon.
