No ???

FFS - just tried to find the file again and it seems AOL Hometown (where all my old pictures are stored) shut down last week. Nice of them to warn me. >:(

Here's the picture again.

its not a problem sourcing pipe i'm having. Brought a catch tank off ebay a while ago and its (crapely) mounted to the bulkhead. Unless i'm looking at the wrong pipe (probably!), it just seems way too big to connect to the inlet of the tank.

I'll have another look at some point when its not too windy and get a pic.

Unfortunately Jon, lots of the cheap catch tanks off ebay have tiny inlets, 10mm is not uncommon. That may be fine for a bike engine, but most older car engines (our Polo's being one of them) need 19mm / 3/4" od pipes.

Well guys, I got the car in a garage, so I'm painting everything.
When I pick up (next Monday) I will start to make the boost return mod.
Thanks to your explanations as already doing so.
But looking for more information on the Internet, I found something really interesting.
There is no need to put fat in spray every X km.
Taking advantage of a tube with a return of gas / oil that comes from the carter, is the function of lubrication of G.
I leave with you a picture.

What do you think about it?

good idea but doesnt the pressure from the charger and boost pipes make the vapours flow to that area and back to the charger?..dunno just a thought...never done the boost return mod so not thought too much about it..

There will always be a relative vacuum at the inlet to the charger so connecting the pipe as shown in the picture will work OK while still giving some lubrication to the charger. The plastic one way valve near the engine end of the breather pipe should be removed. 'Positive' crankcase ventilation relies on the crankcase being connected to low pressure to draw out the gases; it's normally done by using inlet manifold vacuum. The problem with the normal boost return on a G40 is that when you come off the throttle all of the high pressure air in the inlet pipes is dumped out through the bypass valve. The high pressure pulse goes back down the breather pipe and can pressurise the crankcase forcing oil out of the dipstick.  I think the plastic one way valve is supposed to prevent this but it's prone to blocking up and isn't quite 'one way' either. When you come off boost excess air will actually come back out of the air filter with the normal setup (ideal for cleaning the K&N).

supercharged spaniel, are you spanish??
g40supercharged, i don´t understand exactly your reply, excuse me, i use a translator but don´t understand fine you say me, sorry.

How i say to do, it´s good or bad?
i read in some forums, that idea is goodest cuz the G don´t need "external" lubircation...

Excuse me, i don´t want to be heavy, but don´t want to broke my loved G.

If you can say me more "simply"...

Really thanks TO ALL!

in a few words it seems your idea will be fine..not something i would do however as your idea does nothing but give you the woosh/dump noise that you want..nothing more than that in my mind

ok that´s right.
maybe i will do with "my" idea.
can say if this form is bad for any part of engine/compresor??

I only want that sound, and the G are lubricated, no more

The idea in the picture will not do any harm to the engine or the G charger. It is the same as standard except it will make the sound. The boost return pipe was put there by VW to stop the sound!
