Standard g40 head
« on: November 09, 2011, 07:13:29 pm »
nice and clean - esp round the water jackets!  has plugs in still (not sure of condition) - does not come with cam/tappets.
Would recommend a skim etc before using, but looks clean enough! sorry for blurry pics! (on top pic is just discoloured around oil way)

Hi Pete... Just looking at your head again. You say it is "standard"... are there different types? I have a mechanic checking ours over with a view to getting a price for reconditioning. But yours could be a cheaper option. Out of interest... what part of the country are you in?
Thanks... James.

well some people modify them, port them and what not, also fit bigger valves.

While I'm typing this I might as well say that Pete is near Barnsley.

But apart from modifying the valves, the overall sizes, inlet and outlet, bolt down configurations etc are the same???

big valves usually just enlarge outlet valves... inlets are very slightly different ona g40 head but not much. (like 1mm longer i think - according to etka)

however big valves - generally people used them from man in a shed or jabbasport... but they only did a few runs - so are basically saying ( from what i remember) that they'll only do 10 sets at a time.

Also -if you do find a stock 1.3 head, then i have some double valve springs from a fecked head in the shed.
