Evening all just a very quick question does anybody know how much of a job it is to fit an eaton charger to my g40.just want to know wot bits I would need and rough costs If anybody has any ideas feel free to let me know many thanks matt

its an endless money pit! lol.

Easier if you could get hold of a PSD eaton kit as they are designed for the polo. Normal eaton M45 chargers have the nosecone on which doesnt leave alot of room at all in the engine bay. If theres anything you need to know, drop me a PM ;)

if you are giving away the glader, go for turbo!

you'll get more power for the same cash and more reliable.

matthg40

What sort of power am I looking at with a turbo then

hayesey

depends on the rest of the spec of the engine but you could aim for anything between 150 and 200bhp without getting silly.

matthg40

Ouh I like the sound of that

Is It not more work for turbo?
Custom manifold?
Turbo cam..
Lots of other stuff a don't quite know about..

I do believe ppl who say it's cheaper but can someone show
Me how?

If they can beat 750€ (that is how much it cost me from buying the eaton to making 143hp) then yes the turbo is cheaper! I am sure I can pull some more hp out of my engine as apart from the eaton the car is stock! Turbo sounds more expensive to me too but I would listen to them, they have done more research!

hayesey

well you might as well spend £200 or less on a chip & 65mm pulley if you want 143bhp.  Not being funny but that's not exactly a lot of power for an eaton conversion.  With proper mapping and stuff I'm sure you'll get lots more but your €750 will probably be doubled at least.

The eaton set-up imho is harder to get 100% perfect than what the turbo is. The Eaton kits were never completely perfect, causing the chargers to flex under hard acceleration and need a tweek here and there to stop this happening. I'd also suggest a complete remap as mine used to have afew little running problems (idling all over the shop, cutting out when coming to a halt etc).

As for the turbo set-up, i've built up mine by myself ( :o ) and tbh, is alot better fit and hopefully more reliable.

Just cant beat the sound of an eaton on full chat tho ;)
