Throttle Cable popping out!

Morning folks, I went for a spirited drive last night, and after a few bowts of hard accelaration, rather scariliy my accelerator pedal disappeared. I pulled over and popped the bonnet, and the accelerator cable had popped out of the bracket that bolts to the inlet manifold. When I first did the conversion, I checked it had the correct Bracket on for the G40, and the part numbers matched. The only thing I can think is that being a GT cable, its somehow incorrect. But on futher inspection now, it seems to me that the bracket looks close to the bulkhead,  so even with a different cable in, naturally it would be trying to pull up.
I just wondered if anybody had, had anything similar happen. I'm going to ring VW in the morning see if there are 2 different cables available, as my ETKA is playing up at the minute, so can't check for mmyself.

Cheers folks

Have you got  GT inlet manifold?

JregGT

Yup, its a GT inlet, but with a G40 bracket on!

That doesn't matter.

I had the same problem mate. All i did to solve it was put a load of washers under the bracket and used a longer bolt. The GT inlet sits a little lower than the g40 one.

Its well annoying when it happens though!
