Slight confusion with MOT & cat converter
« on: February 11, 2011, 05:43:50 pm »
I know this gets mentioned a lot but today the g40 failed on emissions. I spoke to the fella and said how comes you ran it on a cat equipped vechile. He said thats what it came up with, although according to the printout my car has an engine code aex or something. I told him that when i took it to you last year you ran it as a car with a no cat.

Can it just change like that? Im taking it back to him tomorrow with the cat on but i dont get why its been tested with the cat equipped.

The emissions have only slightly gone up and are within limits of the non cat test as well, except i think it was around 5.8%.

sounds like some computer error as engine code is PY - and you can show him that on the V5

that said - is it a K reg?  so really should be tested on a cat test K onwards, though its down to tester discretion and also what the computer comes up with

Right, today i went in and explained.

They said it comes up on the system as test with cat so they had to do that, although they tested it with a non cat last time. I got the cat put on and it failed on the emissions still.

So i got the original chip, put it in and it passed. My psd chip is over fuelling a lot from the emissions.

Its all sorted now anyway.

The PSD chips I have seen, have the same values as stock on idle, providing you use stock injectors
