Service parts
« on: December 06, 2010, 05:59:57 pm »
Im after the following service parts for my up coming conversion im just wondering where the best place is i can get them from, i dont want to be buying from different places as the postage will soon rack up, so i would like to try and get them all from the same place if possible, without going to vw.

030 121 117 M      Thermostat housing
030 121 119         Thermostat o-ring
030 121 113         Thermostat
038 121 119 B       Housing + connector seal
030 121 121 B      Thermostat end housing

030 129 717 D      Inlet manifold gasket
030 133 073 A      Throttle body gasket
030 253 039 A      Exhaust gasket

030 115 561 AB    Oil filter

Cheers

Gav

It would be useful to give a description with the part numbers so it's clear which parts you're after, then recommendations can be made. Otherwise anyone wanting to help must look up all the part numbers first - a PITA.
Generally GSF or Eurocarparts sell most service parts, most of them decent quality. However some items it's well worth getting from the VW dealer. Post your descriptions and I'm sure we can help.

Now updated with parts next to the serial numbers

Same. All of those are known (at least in my opinion) to be superior from VW. The only exception would be the oil filter - if you get a Mann one from GSF then it's the same as a VW one (the VW tech looked up the supplier for me).

Exactly what i thought, i ended up going with them because if i were to buy all the parts from different places the postage cost would have made it more expensive.

So VW ftw.

especially for those gaskets, the ones GSF sell are crap.  Their exhaust manifold gaskets don't last five minutes.

i didnt realise that the exhaust gaskets were in two halves, so i had to add another £5.00 on to the final value, still not a bad price though.
