Dizzy without shroud cap

I've got a new dizzy cap from gsf theyeve sent me the wrong one, the one I had origianly had no shroud and has a metal seperate shroud the one they har sent me has the black plastic shroud on it. Cani fit this black plastic shrouded one and just leave the metal shroud off ? Or is it needed for screening reasons ?

It's just newer. I had my metal shroud chrome plated, so swapped it each time I changed the cap. But I'll probably leave the black plastic on when the car eventually goes back together.

The shroud is so you can get an AM radio reception apparently. I've never had one on.
