PPC track day oulton park 28th november
« on: November 29, 2008, 01:18:23 pm »
a few of us took our g40s to the PPC track day yesterday.  Had a great day, weather was about as good pretty good considering the time of year, track was a bit wet to start with but dried out a bit later on.  They had a proper photographer there so I paid for some pics of me.

Some of my pics, and a little vid  ;D

After overtaking a Rover 200 Turbo (race prepped) and a TVR:

Red R5 in the distance:

Twat in this Black thing (which had no brake lights) needed to learn some track manners, wasn't that much quicker than the polo either...

Coming into the deer jump at almost 100mph certainly makes your stomach jump:

Subframe and diff means bye bye to a modified 182:

Up close and personal:

Not sure what was in this mini- was quite quick, but still went past ;)

Old Hall:

Favourite couple of pics:

Really good day, all for £99 too! Deffinately need more G40s on track next year, now a few more people have decent suspension set-ups, there's no excuse!!

Quick vid I made:

was that clio a 182? haha, epic fail for him then.  I went past that very easily a couple of times too.  That black thing with wings annoyed me too, mainly because it had no brake lights and when you were behind it you couldn't tell when he started braking for the next corner.

I'm seriously gutted I forgot my in-car camera.  Next time though eh?  Now to take the tired engine out and put something with more power in now I have the handling side pretty much sorted.  Just need some stiffer springs, was getting quite a lot of roll as you can see in the pictures.  Due to the loss of anti roll bar I think, addition of coilover converted struts will see to that.  Otherwise I just want some more straight line power.

Looks like you had a great time. Would have been up for it if I had a car up for it. Hopefully next year with mine put together it might happen.

I like the Yoof + Andy sun visor  :D

Hayesey, what exhaust is on yours ?

it's a powerflow made system, I bought it 2nd hand so not sure where it was actually made.  I think Richie K (who's old car is currently being sold on here somewhere...) had it made.

I originally had a sunvisor on mine that Andy wrote "HAYSEY" on (note the wrong spelling...), but it started peeling off so I pitted to remove it and stuck some tape on the inside instead.  Was necessary as in the morning it was sunny and I was being blinded half the time without it.

Just some stock VAG 6x14" steelies- had crap tyres on my compo MO so used these instead.

Giorgio- I have seen it, although there's very little information available at the moment? It also means FIA seats, harness, cage, fire system, etc etc- prob another £2k worth of kit!

Will be doing more trackdays next year, hopefully testing a new rear axle mod- and rear diffuser, along with a few more suspension tweaks, already pisses on the clio 182 etc with the subframe and diff, so I'm hoping the next revisions take it another stage further.

Possibly try to organise a Club G40 track day?

Take your Mk1  ;D. Did you build your cage to FIA Spec?

Seat and fire extinguisher are £300 realistically. However I dont think subframes will be allowed when I was speaking to John although I haven't got a complete answer yet.

Awesome, I'm dying to get mine back out on track next year. Finances have been tight this year hence not as much as I've wanted. :(
