just in the nick of time?

The last few days I've noticed occasionally when turning on the car one of the fuel pumps is more noisey than usual, like when your running low on petrol. Rev the car and it goes...so rather than wait for the worst I took the in-line one off and put a spare on which had all but dried up and the car didnt start...so..

I put the old but newer one back on with new clamps...started straight away and sounded fine. What next? Try the in- tank one, again a new item since I've had the car along with the gauze that fits on the end of it. Pulled it out of the tank and...

absolutly caked in crud?! eh?! Now a while back I did run out of petrol and put a new filter on shortly afterwards but it seems the gauze has taken the brunt...
Lesson?
1. Don't run out of fuel
2. Give g40 fuel pumps love.

I gave my G40 fuel pumps some proper loving.
New Inline pump, new hoses, new clips everything. I went to change my fuel filter and it was a 5 second job. Non-Rust parts are the way forward

yeah sam not heard a peep from the pumps since i cleaned it and this morning the car was fine! although it wasnt that cold outside and it only really does it when its really cold. to be honest its not even that bad anyways im just a fanny about everything on this car and look for problems LOL ! car drives mint and always has thats the main thing. could of been awful if piston had melted due to dirty gauze i suppose!

as for edition im having to miss yet another great show. start my new job monday and moving house the weekend afterwards so i really can't afford it! you know the score! you bought your own place not so long ago didnt you?

Ha I think I will too. Just had my injectors cleaned so will be worth while.

I thought you'd moved not long back Dan?! Is it a new school you start at then? I've been in my house 4 years this October! Good luck with it all Dan.
