gear linkage repair kit

hello new to the club so any help is appreciated,my gear lever feels like a stick in a bucket of rice pudding,no drastic gear selection problems just a bit vague!can anyone suggest where i can find a gear linkage repair kit or what i need to change,and where to obtain it.thanks

Vw or gsfcarparts do a repair kit, consists of the ball and socket in the box at the bottom of the stick. Could also be the bush the rod goes through at the front of the box, vw only for that one I think.
