MOT time - CO at 0%
« on: September 22, 2010, 11:16:54 pm »
Ever since I had my 1341 engine built around 6 years ago, the CO reading has always been very very low come MOT time (one last year was 0.2% (engine was cold) - I've seen 0% on a few occasions including the most recent test).

As I've recently moved to a different area, my MOT tester is a different person. He commented on how low my CO reading was and how it should be made a little richer. Nobody has ever mentioned this to me before. What do you guys reckon? It goes rich under boost, so I'm not worried about melting any pistons.

The idle is fairly lumpy and it isn't really that nice to drive under 2000rpm (I've always put this down to the cam, head work and manifold).

Would it be worth getting a remap, or a waste of money?

Thanks!

what ECU chip are you currently running?

with a 1341 its always good to have a custom map created for it, mine has a custom map by Andy and its spot on!

As above, sounds like it needs more fuel at low rpm/low load.  A remap should sort this and make it nicer to drive.

Coolio! My chip is a PSD one that was fitted once the engine was run in. G-Werks aren't too far down the road from me - I'll give them a shout! Thanks!

I think so, not 100% sure though. I didn't get a chance to call them today, but I'll give them a shout next week.

Steve Pitt used to do Digifant mapping on the side for them, not sure whether they still do that though - best to ring Rob/Darren and ask.

Nope, G-Werks don't do custom mapping  :( Does anyone know anyone good in the Southampton area or nearby?

you are only 2 hours from Andy, I'd just get PPP to do it.  I drove mine there for remapping and it's more like 3 hours from my house.

@ Jezza-7 That place is about 2 miles from where I used to work! I do pass by Yeovil from time to time, so that could be worth a shot.

@ Hayesey, are you talking about Andy Strange? Whereabouts is he?

Thanks again  ;D

Ah, cool! What kind of price do you charge for a custom map?
