Right, basically fitted the injectors that came out of my G40 engine, checked the part code, then checked the code on my mates 3f injectors, they were the same ended something like 31 A, not B, like the ones i saw for sale @ E38 at the weekend.

So first question; are the py injectors supposed to be different to the 3f injectors?

Secondly.. I checked the injectors in my other G40, they are out of a ford and are code 0280150947, which are on the "list".

What I am wanting to know off the G40 guru's is, which injectors will be suitable for my set-up?

Engine spec is as follows, standard 1272, rebuilt with new rings, shells, valves, Dbilas Valve springs, Catcams aftermarket camshaft (and pulley), 4-2-1 manifold (when i get one that fits), 68mm pulley on a 40mm lader. Will my ford items work ok? I will ideally be getting a chip/map to suit the mods.

All the flow rates and restistance confuzzles me! ???

The part number on mine are 030 906 031B and they were from a G40.

Bugger, recon that means my py was running 3f injectors when it came of the road, i'll have to double check the code on em. Fitted the bastards back in as well  >:(

Are yours all black? Mine were half beige (not that that prob means alot!?).

Jezza-7

Yeah all black. Can sell them to you if you need them?

randombadger69

might do.. someone off here was at E38 selling a set for a tenner, shold have snapped em up then!

If my Ford items will suffice then i'll use em, but if not i'll drop you a pm ;)

Your Ford injectors are ~250cc, wouldn't recommend running them without a suitable chip.

Why? This is what I don't get.. will it just overfuel? Or is the spray pattern completely different?

If you have the standard ECU chip then this will be calibrated to the original G40 injectors. If you fit injectors which flow more fuel per second (e.g. your Ford items) then the engine will overfuel. The ECU will try to resolve this in closed-loop mode (when it looks to the Lambda sensor for information on the mixture) but the mixture will probably be too far out to adjust for. I expect this will result in some pretty rough running..!
Likewise if you fit GT injectors to a G40 they will have a tendancy to underfuel.

right, cheers. In which case i can use the ECU in the other G40 or get a new chip/map (more favourable option), will drop the ppp chaps a pm regarding their chips.

030 906 031B = 0280150721

Is the "list" you were referring to?

Yeah. So the 3F injectors flow 155 and the stock PY injectors flow 200. Nice one, this is what I was wanting to know.
