The rad is clear! ( I did it myself) the thermostat is brand new (changed it myself) the fun is suspicious cause it doesn't drop the temperatures when stopped! I 'll check the timing but I doubt it's altered!

The fan's not going to be relevant  in this; it shouldn't be on at all at 120kph. Airflow through the rad should be enough. Either it's a blocked rad. jammed thermostat(run it with no thermostat) or your timing's a bit retarded.

i beg to differ, i would`nt rule it out if it has`nt been changed and going by his last thread it seriously sounds dodgy just as mine was (not staying on long enough) for £25 you can get a good second hand one so why not change it.

Fair enough, but why the high temp. at speed? the fan shouldn't be on then.

i don`t know, all i can say is that my problem was almost identical to gr40`s and my fan was knackered, i changed my rad for a nissens one at the same time, but i still believe the fan was to blame.

gr40 mentioned that his rad is clear from dirt a few times so i thought it could be the fan, if it`s an original fan it`s been spinning for the best part of 20 years and for that reason alone i would change it, when i changed mine the difference in the speed of the fan was noticable straight away.
