nice one cheers jezza,

i see alot of people r running 195/45,

i,ve fitted some cheap suspension to mine and the rear, when fitted was as low as my nans tits!
i had to move the snap ring up and up and up but its still rubbing,
i've got a couple of notches to go and to be fair it does need to go up to match the front,

but if i was to fit 195/45's it would give me an extra 10mm clearance,
i'm just confused as the fronts aren't adjustable n might look odd with lower profile tyres?

cheers

Its no measured in mm.

the 45 is a measurment from the 195, i think

so that 195/45, the depth being 45, is 45 of the width, 195.

if that makes sense?

I run 195 45 on mine, i could measure the depth in mm if you want?

45 is a percentage of the 195 - so sidewall height is 45% of 195mm - 87.75mm wide

55 therefore are 185mm wide and sidewall of 101.75

185 50  have a sidewall height of 94.50

NO! Tyre depth isnt measured in mm!

Tyre Width
The tyre width is shown in millimetres and is the width from one side of the tyre to the other. Wider tyres give the car more contact with the road and therefore more traction.

Tyre Profile
The tyre profile is actually a ratio, not a metric measurement. The profile is the ratio of tyre width to profile height shown as a percentage.

For example: If the tyre has the dimensions shown - 205/50. Then the profile is 50% of the width, so 50% of 205mm is 102.5mm. The tyre height from the rim to the tread is 102.5mm

ahh,

now thats the point, i only wanted to lower it 40 front and rear,
but when i pulled the front apart the shock holders were full of oil!!!
and when the new ones were fitted it didnt make that muck of a difference!
i think the ones i pulled off were origional!!!! so it had dropped itself over the years,
when i put the rears on (thinking they were set up) they were slammed!!! so much i couldnt move the motor!!!

so had to drop the axle again and move the snap ring up to raise them.
i've got it missing but still looks a little lower than the front so will have to do it again
only prob is i will have to split my custom exhaust i made up!!!

i have an arch rolling kit on standby!! if after raising it it still rubs!
its only the rear offside, prob cos i'm a fatty haha!!
