boost leak or the boost return valve not closing perhaps?  Any new noises or anything?

infact you could well be right there, the screw that adjusts the idle has come out! would that make the cale loose?

cheers

my cable was loose in the past as the small metal clip had come off just before it goes into the bulkhead. had same symptoms. hope its just that easy fix then. or your boost hose may have lossened off the intercooler. mine done this in the past and you could still hear charger but i was getting nowhere

boost return valve is on top of the throttle body.  Probably best to remove the boost return pipe from it and then press the accelerator with the engine turned off while a mate looks at the BRV to see if it closes fully when pressing the pedal right down.  If not then it's probable that the accelerator cable has slipped or is knackered.

its really pissing me off! i know people who can source problems and fix cars, but they are just so unreliable. so i just dont bother asking!! it looks like i may have to take it to my local vw specialist! and that could cost me an arm and a leg! i just want my power back, its no fun anymore! >:(

Mine did this, it was the spring clip which holds tension to the throttle cable which came off. When the accelerator was being pressed the outer cable was moving too. New clip and it was sorted.

Was this the split http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,4759.msg34628.html#msg34628 ?

or was it somewhere else?

no that wasnt it it was the actual charger to intercooler piping! at the bottom! no idea how it split!

They just split due to age, coping with boost and flexing. Not at all unusual.
