i thought they were different aswell,
vw and g.s.f both say that they are listed as being the same,
the inlet valves are now obsolete from vw so ive had to buy the exhaust valve from vw and the inlet valve from g.s.f which is worrying me a bit,
i think i will ask my engineer to take two good valves out and check them against each other, is it worth doing that?

Always worth checking you've got the correct bits before fitting!

When people have big valve heads, the exhaust oversize exhaust valves in them aren't sodium filled, just solid ones so im thinking if you cant get stock ones then should be too much of a problem (obviously not saying stick like 1.0L ones in or something if you know what i mean)

Hi all, if any of you need a set of exhaust valves i have a set of stock sodium filled ones removed from a head thats done only 60K, only reason they were removed is because i had a BVH built, if any of you are intrested in them PM me.

so the exhaust valve from vw and the inlet valve from gsf were both 1mm shorter than the original ones in the head,
now i don`t know what to do, has anyone got any ideas? where can i get some over sized exhaust valves from.

Jabbasport are out of valves and due to the size of an order of new valves and the amount they sell brain told me they probably won't be investing in any more ! If anyone can get hold of some I'd like some !!

what about standard valves, where else could i look for the right ones? what would happen if you put in the valves in from vw or gsf that are 1mm shorter.

Your local engine builder may be able to source some.
As for what will happen with the shorter valves, the springs will be a tighter fit, I'm not 100% sure of the other effects. Maybe the plungers in the tappets will take up the difference, if they don't then you'll have 1mm less lift and I suspect damage to the tappets and valve stems as they won't be in constant contact.

Why don't one of you contact brian to see what the smallest batch they will commision is, if its say 5 sets i would have thought between here and clubpolo there would be enough intereste for a small group buy?

Smallest batch to get a decent price is is around 20 sets , if I rember correctly that's buying direct from supplier though not through jabba Other wise valves around £50-60 each!
